Passing Quality Control
Requires Purging of Pipe
Intercon Enterprises Inc. (est. 1978) supplies high quality products to the welding industry by delivering on its motto of providing "Leading performance through innovation and quality." The attributes of this motto apply to the unique products and sales philosophy that is Intercon.

Previously, purging was done with homemade or in-house fabricated tools that welders built to address a particular need. Using Intercon's purging dams, welders rely on a high quality, well-thought-out design that makes the pipe fitter's task easier, faster and better. Intercon's dams cover pipe sizes ranging from 3/8" to 40+" diameter and reduce purging times dramatically, from 30-90+ minutes in the past to just 2-3 minutes. Chemical, computer chip, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food/dairy industries are looking for this technology, and distributors can profit from this. Intercon complements the purge dams with dissolving purge paper, purge paper tape, and fiber backing tape – all available from one source.
Welding distributors can tap into Intercon’s great products and technical support. When it comes to "purging pipe," Intercon is a world leader. And though they may appear specialized, purging-related inquiries are becoming more common with the ever-increasing quality standards, as well as the proliferation of stainless steel. Now, distributors not only have the source, but the ability to become an expert for picking the right purging equipment for their individual customers' needs, every time.

All a distributor needs is his customer's pipe size and schedule. By bundling ready-made units, Intercon has made the ordering process simple. These ready to "plug and play" units reflect a cost savings of approximately 10 percent over individually priced components. Intercon also can help the distributor secure the order with technical expertise through a variety of media.
Intercon prides itself on excellent customer service combined with a large inventory, quick order execution and a line of unique and specialized products. While the coming years will bring more challenges to the welding industry, delivering on what has been promised has always been a formula for success.

BREAKING NEWS
Linde Helps Create Clean Vehicle Fuel
With gas prices constantly rising, Linde North America is taking action to offer fuel alternatives. Linde and Waste Management, North America’s largest waste management company, are creating the world’s largest facility to convert landfill gas into clean vehicle fuel. The companies will install systems that purify and liquefy landfill gas, converting it into liquefied natural gas or LNG. The LNG produced from the landfill gas will be a virtually zero-carbon transportation fuel. The facility, located at the Altamont Landfill near Livermore, CA, will begin operations in 2009. It is expected to produce up to 13,000 gallons of LNG a day, making the plant the largest of its kind. The garbage in California landfills is expected to help produce more than 200 million gallons of clean transportation fuel each year.
Propane Tank Recall
A product safety recall was issued by American Welding & Tank in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission on Conversion Underground Propane Storage Tanks. The propane contains an added odorant meant to forewarn consumers of gas leaks. However, the odor can fade due to rust, particularly in some converted aboveground to underground tanks. Odor fading results in a fire and burn hazard from the consumers’ inability to detect the smell of propane if a leak occurs. Two individuals sustained first and second degree burns in a tank-related incident. The recall affects 11,000 underground propane storage tanks converted from aboveground tanks, ranging from 120 gallons to 1,000 gallons in size. The tanks were sold to propane retail dealers in the eastern U.S. from January 2005 to April 2008.
